My name is JJ Herdegen
My pronouns are they/them or no pronouns
I’m a queer media creator, writer, speaker and filmmaker. I grew up and live in Germany and am a German native speaker. I studied film directing practically (Bachelor of Arts) and media science (Master of Arts).
I’m a white-privileged, queer person. There are many voices like mine out there. Yet I want to use my voice and abilities to create a place where people feel that their gender identity, sexuality and/or romantic attraction is not in question but the society that is built of concepts that often exclude the community I feel part of; the LGBTQIA+ community.
I write, I read and talk in public, I create (media) content that is also educational to support this cause.
My texts are published in various anthologies. I moderate and create events and am a speaker about topics connected to queerness, diversity and education in it.
The events I attend or shape are a platform for people to connect, to listen and to be listened to, to feel seen and heard.
Short films and educational clips are a way of my creative expression to support these ideas.
Online live events and social media are my basis to spread important messages and to communicate about them.

These means and wonderful people I meet along the way are my motivation and inspiration to keep on creating.
To sum it up I want to give you a message that I try to live by:
Be a representation that matters.
You can book me as speaker, poet, writer and moderator for your events or workshops.
